On slowing down

Published on· 1 min read

Most of what we call urgent is not. Learning to tell the difference is slow work, and worth it.

The cost of speed

Fast answers feel productive. They also push the real questions further down the road, where they become more expensive.

Small practices

  • Finish one thing before opening the next.
  • Leave a draft overnight before deciding.
  • Prefer a short conversation to a long thread.

No conclusion

I do not have a system, only a direction. Writing it down is one way to stay pointed that way.
